Poverty reduction

According to the United Nations, poverty is a denial of choices and opportunities, a violation of human dignity. Poverty entails more than the lack of income and productive resources. It manifests as hunger and malnutrition, limited access to education and other basic services, social discrimination and exclusion from decision-making.

As governments, private sector, philanthropies, and individuals, we all have a responsibility to do our best to eliminate poverty, within the sphere of our influence. Our role is not limited to paying taxes to governments to invest in nationwide solutions, we can also engage in individual or collective acts to eliminate poverty.

Firuza Foundation has identified Ending Poverty as a core strategic priority for its works. Our actions in the other three strategic focus areas we identified, including Climate, Health and Education, are all structured to contribute to ending poverty, in all forms and for all.

Since 1990, the world has made remarkable progress in reducing extreme poverty, moving more than one billion people out of extreme poverty and hunger. Despite this progress, about 600 million people will still be struggling with extreme poverty by 2030.

Leaving no one in extreme poverty is the greatest global challenge facing the world today and we at the Firuza Foundation, are committed to design all our actions towards the overarching goal of contributing to actions to eliminating all forms of poverty.
